WHAT’S NEW 2020 – 2021

WHAT’S NEW AT CABERFAE PEAKS 2020/2021

As part of our “What’s New Wednesday” series at the Peaks, we’ll post something new for the upcoming winter throughout the fall starting September 9th.  Check back on Wednesday’s, or follow our “What’s New Wednesday” series on FB or IG.

SEPTEMBER 9 – ADDITIONAL SNOWMAKING PUMP

Increased the overall snow making capacity by 33% by installing another 300 HP vertical turbine snowmaking pump.  The additional pumping capacity will flow 33% more water than we are currently pumping and allow us to make better use of our 150+ snowmaking guns that we have all over North & South Peak.  The increased capacity will also allow us to make snow more efficiently, particularly in colder temperatures, which will translate into more terrain opening up earlier.

SEPTEMBER 16 – ADDITIONAL SNOWMAKING WELL

With the installation of a new snowmaking pump, we also had to increase our source water by drilling a 310 foot, 12″ well.  The new snowmaking well will feed our reservoir and flow through several other holding ponds to allow the water to cool prior to being pumped up the hill to convert to snow.  The colder the water, the easier the conversion to snow, particularly in the marginal snowmaking temps.
